How to share video on the iPhone 3Gs
Learn how to share video that is recorded on an iPhone 3Gs.
The iPhone 3Gs smartphone made by Apple for AT&T cellular is an advanced cell phone and smartphone that has the capability of recording, editing, and sharing video that is recorded on the device.
Sharing a video is crucial, because what is the fun of recording video on the go if you can’t share the video quickly and easily? With the iPhone 3Gs, you can instantly share video the second you stop recording.
Once you have finished recording and editing the video on the iPhone, you will want to share the video. The first step is to tap on the review video image in the lower left hand side of the iPhone screen.
This image is a screenshot from the latest video that you have recorded and tapping on it will open up the Video Review screen. Tap the “Play” icon on this screen to view the video that you just recently recorded.
While the video is playing, tap the screen again to bring up the iPhone Share Video menu options. You will see multiple options on the screen. These options include E-Mail Video, MMS, Send to MobileMe, and Send to YouTube.
To E-Mail an iPhone video.
Tap on the E-mail option and enter the e-mail address that you want to send the video to. Click “Send” to complete the e-mail sending. Keep in mind that the person you are sending the video file to must be able to have the ability to open and play the video.
Using MMS to send video.
MMS is similar to text messaging, although instead of a text, the video is sent in a message to contacts in your iPhone’s Contact book. Tap this option and select from your contact list the people who you want to receive the video. Click on “Send” to send the video file.
Sending video to MobileMe.
MobileMe is a service offered by Apple that allows users to access their computer files anywhere, anytime with a secure login account. This is like a hard drive that is accessible anywhere from any computer. It costs around a year for this service and those with the service can select the MobileMe option, login to their account, and put their video into their MobileMe account for access to the video from anywhere.
Sending video to YouTube.
Video recorded on the iPhone 3Gs can be published instantly on YouTube directly from the phone. Tapping on the “Send to YouTube” option will prompt you to login to your YouTube account. Once logged in your can select “Upload Video” and your video will be available within seconds on your YouTube account. With this option, users are limited by YouTube to post only up to 10 minutes worth of video footage for a single video file.
The iPhone 3Gs allows you to record video on the go and upload and share the video right after recording it. There is no need for adapter cables or having to wait until you have access to a computer or laptop to save, share, and upload videos.

Record, Edit and Upload Video on the iPhone 3GS
Adapted from my original article .
One of the new (and somehow most overlooked) features on the iPhone is the ability to shoot video! Under the right circumstances, it’s actually a pretty good camera. It encodes 640×480 h.264 MOV files at 3500kbps, and depending on your lighting will shoot at a framerate of 15fps or 30fps. The iPhone will also let you edit the video! This tutorial will show you how to shoot, edit, and upload YouTube when you’re done!
Step 1. Tap the Camera icon on your iPhone to bring up the photo camera. In the corner there’s a small photo/video slider. Move it to the video position to enter iPhone video mode.
Step 2. Getting a good picture on the new iPhone is a lot easier than the old iPhone. Tap a part of the picture to select a focal point. The iPhone will automatically set your exposure, focus, and white balance. If the picture is coming out over exposed, try taping the lighter parts of the picture near the focal point you’re aiming for.
Step 3. Make sure your iPhone is in landscape mode (wider than taller) and tap the record button to the right. While the phone will shoot in portrait mode, your video will look ridiculous when you finish and everyone will make fun of you. Once you hit record, you’ll notice a timer appears in the corner.
Step 4. Tap the record button again to stop recording the video. The iPhone will save the video. Tap the thumbnail in the corner to bring the gallery up, and tap your video to bring up the editor screen. From here you can shorten the timeline from either side by dragging your finger across it (known as scrubbing). Once you’ve set the desired length, tap the “Trim” button in the corner of the iPhone to save your changes.
Step 5. You can tap the play button in the center of the iPhone to preview your video. If you like what you see, you can tap the “Send” button in the corner to bring up a few sharing options. This menu will allow you to email the video to someone, or tap a button to send it directly to YouTube!
Additional Tips
While it’s cool that the iPhone has a “video editing” feature, you can import your video into iMovie, Final Cut Pro, or even Windows Movie Marker to do more advanced editing.
Unlike the iPhone, Apple’s desktop editing software includes a great feature to stabilize your shaky video.
