 The course at Stanford University extends over 10 weeks and the lectures are put out there as podcasts with some days delay. The course covers introduction to C Objecti, development in Cocoa Touch and programming in multitouch. You will need a Mac and an iPhone or a iPodTouch to follow this course though.

The university situated in Palo Alto in California was one of the first academic institutions to present their lectures via the I Tunes U. I Tunes U is a sub section of I Tunes, where universities and high schools and colleges can put their lectures and other teaching material for free. So far not so many academic places have used this option, but there seem to be building up an awareness to this option and more and more academias are using this option to relay their courses to potential students.

 The course on programming the iPhone with their SDK developed by Evan Doll and Alan Cannistraro and offers an opportunity to build applications for the iPhone platform using the iPhone SDK. User interface designs for mobile devices and unique user interactions using multi touch technologies. You will learn object oriented design using model-view-control pattern, memory management, Objecitve-C programming language. iPhone APIs and tools including XCode, Interface Builder and Instruments on Mac OS X. Other topics covered include; core animation, bonjour networking, mobile device power management and performance considerations.

You will need to have knowledge of C language and programming at a basic level, and its recommended that you have knowledge of UNIX, object-oriented programming and graphics toolkits.

The course includes videos and PDF documents and lectures are posted every Wednesday and Friday.

When you sign up and subscribe to the course, you will automatically receive new lectures as they become available.

The first lecture was presented on April 1st 2009 (no, it’s not a joke or Aprils fool).

And there are available several video sessions of lectures and PDF files already on I Tunes U.
