The problem with that idea is the flaw that there’s all these different versions out there of Android already, some with totally different UI styles and so on.
Apple will no doubt not like being second or third best and will most likely make sure their next generations of iPhones are at least on par with or above the competition.
Apple also only launches their new line of iPhones once a year, not every other month like Android phones. But I much prefer the Apple quality over Android so far.

So. iPhone vs. Android. Which one will win? The question should be: which will have MORE apps after a year or two?
iPhone has 100,000 apps now. It’s projected to have 300,000 apps by the end of 2010. The rate of growth for iPhone apps is (300k – 100k) / 100k x 100 = 200%
Android has 20,000 apps now. It’s projected to have 150,000 apps by the end of 2010. The rate of growth for Android apps is (150k – 20k) / 20k x 100 = 650%.
At those rates, Android apps will overwhelm iPhone in 2011.

If you look at the history of platform competitions, (i.e., computer OS, game consoles, Blu-ray/HD DVD) the platform with the largest number of apps or software ALWAYS win.
That’s how Windows marginalizes Mac and Linux, how PlayStation 2 trumps Xbox and GameCube, and how Blu-ray defeats HD DVD.
Mac or Linux may be the better operating system. Xbox and GameCube may be the more advanced console than PS2. But Windows and PS3 have more apps, and that’s why they win.

Nexus One by itself will not be the iPhone killer.
However, Nexus One along with Droid and all the other Android phones together will overwhelm iPhone in a couple years if not sooner.

So not really on the same topic as your post, but I found this today and I just can’t resist sharing. Mrs. Agathe’s dishwasher quit working so she called a repairman. Since she had to go to work the next day, she told him, “I’ll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I’ll mail you the check. Oh, and by the way…don’t worry about my Doberman. He won’t bother you. But, whatever you do, do NOT under ANY circumstances talk to my parrot!” When the repairman arrived at Mrs. Agathe’s apartment the next day, he discovered the biggest and meanest looking Doberman he had ever seen. But just as she had said, the dog simply laid there on the carpet, watching the repairman go about his business. However, the whole time the parrot drove him nuts with his incessant cursing, yelling and name-calling. Finally the repairman couldn’t contain himself any longer and yelled, “Shut up, you stupid ugly bird!” To which the parrot replied, “Get him, Spike!”

I’ve been searching on the internet looking to get some ideas on the way to get our blog coded, your current layout and style are great. Did you actually code it yourself or did you recruit a programmer to get it done for you?

Interesting conclusion but I think you should edit the formatting at line 16.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
January 3rd, 2011 at 2:12 pm
If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
