Add Lenses, Mics, Lights & more to your iPhone – Owle Bubo review

Videos Add comments

The Camera in the iphone isn't awesome, but it's "good enough", But Blunty3000 has found a product called the OWLE Bubo which makes it BETTER. For those who have asked; How do I attach Wide angle, fish eye, macro or telephoto lenses to my iphone? How to I attach an external microphone to my iphone? How to I attach a light to my iphone for taking video or photos in the dark? How do I attach my iphone to a tripod? or How can I take better looking, smoother vids with my iphone? The Owle Bubo, despite it's silly name, will let you do all of that even all of that at once! it's pretty neat. Here's the video of the 40 ton stress test smashing the prototype owlebubo to bits; Watch one of the guys get scared shitless www.youtube.com Hand Held Hollywood's Do-it-Yourself guide to making a neck-strap for the iphone using the Bubo's tripod mounts; www.handheldhollywood.com If you want to grab an OWLE Bubo, or find out more about it you can hit up their website here; www.wantowle.com

    This just looks completely pointless.

    I like your Teen Titans T-Shirt :D .

  6. BonanaBear Says:

The microphone attachment that it comes with seems to be in a bad place to me, I have fairly large hands and if I want to get a good grip with both hands It looks like I could be bumping into it and distorting the sound.

That is probably the only thing I could see wrong with it.

    Thanks for the review Blunty

  7. DarkbladeMediaTV Says:

It’s a noticeable difference, but I wouldn’t say a $130 review, and I just don’t have that kind of extra cash at the moment. But someone who does have that extra dough, I could see them buying it, and I wouldn’t stop them. What I’m really interested in though is that little mic, because I’m a big podcaster, and that would be the perfect accessory to my little netbook.

  8. Killhippie Says:

I would agree, as a standalone camera with some of the apps you can get, you can capture very good photographs, but sticking a big lens over a not so great sensor for vid use is not the answer. Looking at your vids I was not impressed, and you know the iPhones limitations, I think most people would rather use a Camcorder or a compact HD Camera, than lug a large piece of Aluminium about, but truthfully seeing more of its work would help balance my views.

  9. ThinkingTechnology Says:

What a waste of cash, if you going to carry all that around you had might aswel just buy a proper camera.

  10. Aitamen Says:

couldn’t have said it better ^_^

  11. MsCheekybrat Says:

*gasps* MOTHER! It’s like sugar and magic mixed together.
Sorry, i really tried to pay attention to what Blunty was saying but i couldn’t take my eyes off the can of magic that was sitting on the desk.

  12. hellkaiserzane Says:

anybody know why 720p video is kinda jumpy on youtube although fully buffered?

  13. ichirootaniguchi Says:

the reason why the lens isn’t wide enough is because the sensor in the camera is tiny.
    it gives a magnification factor.
also the curve is reffered to as distortion
or in this case barrel distortion

  14. AK410 Says:

    MOTHER!

  15. samxma Says:

good review! wouldnt mind getting one of those my self :) 5*

  16. FunnyBoysFilms Says:

There is a bit of lens vertical distortion with the lens you fitted to the Bubo on some of the shots, but I guess if you were that worried about that then you’d just buy a proper video / camera.

  17. swamiebo Says:

its like lego just build a way end have fun

  18. poiuyrvsdg Says:

i see the point for a passionate geek very into all this stuff
But if i have an Iphone and just like taking snaps, Id’ feel weird assembling this thing in public while a guy on my left takes out an ordinary camera ^^

  19. BovineMagnet Says:

reminds me of the PS1/2/3 controller :)

  20. katatonickate Says:

What a useless expensive chunky product. (supposedly $130 USD)

I don’t see the point of carrying around some chunky gadget to take ‘better’ pictures.

  21. misha1985 Says:

hmm… it can be a point (i’m doing it too :P ) of that but i am still not convinced about that, maybe because i am a little bit a nokia fan boy ;) i love my canon <3, and i am taking with me almost always my netbook with 3g (i am IT geek…). Will there be a review about battlefield bad company 2?

  22. Blunty3000 Says:

@misha1985 Okay, I’ll bite… so which of those compact cameras allow you to do sophisticated editing, touch-ups, colour correcting, adding frames, text, etc etc etc, and then allow you to instantly upload those edited photos to a vast variety of photo sharing websites over 3G and wifi connections all from within the same device? how many of those compact cameras allow you to shoot, edit, alter, cut, trim and upload video in the same way? The iPhone can do that.

  23. misha1985 Says:

so… post some sample photos… I can tell you without watching on them that there will be chromatic aberration and deformations. I dont see any sense, cameras in phones was made for point, shoot and send low quality photos via mms or email. If you want to have something like that there is a lot of small compact cameras with better lenses, built in xenon flash and other in the pocket – if you have to carry owle, you can carry a camera instead.

  24. halo3guyy Says:

Fuck walking around that big camcorder setup, Hey look at me im a tool trying to look like a pro with my make believe profesional HD camcorder.

  25. mammoo93 Says:

I would like to see a more secure way of holding the iPhone in but other than that, what an amazing product!

  26. Soraya Dilks Says:

This kind of brief review reminds me personally of which these days may well some sort of best possiblity to further more one’s college or university instruction. I consider whether MY SPOUSE AND I may possibly receive tuition on the internet. Now there occur a variety of fund programs today of when and so very obscure to locate only a couple of years ago.
